Alzheimer's Support Committee

The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York (GAC) is glad to announce the induction of our Alzheimer's Support Committee (ASC). ASC hosted their first event "Musical Bridges" on August 2, 2023, in partnership with the Alzheimer's Association. Individuals with early onset dementia, as well as their dedicated caregivers participated in unique and uplifting activities designed just for them. Attendees were led in harmonious sing-alongs with our very own Michael Gayle, and discussed how to use music in their caregiving plan. It was an afternoon filled with joy, harmony, and uplifting music.

The Alzheimer's Association, shared vital information and attendees were able to ask questions and fellowship with others dealing with the weight of Alzheimer's.

Starting in October, Thursdays 2:30pm-4:30pm, ASC will continue to host "Musical Bridges" in The Cathedral Banquet Hall. If you'd like to be the first to know about upcoming events and announcements regarding Alzheimer's, feel free to sign-up to ASC's newsletter.

You are invited to support The Greater Allen Cathedral's team, GAC Walks for the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

The walk will take place on Saturday, October 7 at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. All donations will go to the Alzheimer's Association.
